Provided are a gas hydrate recovery system and a gas hydrate recovery method with which it is possible to stably operate a gas lift mechanism. A method for recovering gas hydrate by disposing a water-surface facility 5 on water, conveying aggregated gas hydrate m recovered at the bottom of a body of water 2 to the water-surface facility 5 by way of a riser pipe 4, and feeding a gas g, which was generated from the gas hydrate m that was conveyed to the water-surface facility 5, into the riser pipe 4 to generate an upward flow inside the riser pipe 4, wherein the gas hydrate m conveyed to the water-surface facility 5 is melted to generate the gas g, the gas g is compressed, and the gas g is thereafter fed into the riser pipe 4.
