The invention provides a belt type conveyor. The belt type conveyor comprises a driving device, a first belt wheel, a second belt wheel and an auxiliary driving mechanism. The first belt wheel is connected with the driving device and can be driven by the driving device to rotate. A conveying belt is arranged on the second belt wheel and the first belt wheel in a sleeving manner; the second belt wheel can be driven by the first belt wheel and the conveying belt to rotate; and the conveying belt is arranged to be inclined relative to the horizontal plane. The auxiliary driving mechanism is arranged between the first belt wheel and the second belt wheel and is in contact with an upper conveying belt body and a lower conveying belt body of the conveying belt; and the auxiliary driving mechanism can be driven by the lower conveying belt body to rotate, and furthermore, the upper conveying belt body is driven to move. According to the belt type conveyor, by means of the auxiliary driving mechanism, the gravity component force of the lower conveying belt body is transmitted to the upper conveying belt body in the form of friction force in the direction of the return stroke, and thus, theupper conveying belt body is driven to move; and the auxiliary driving effect is achieved, and self-driving of the belt type conveyor is achieved.
