The invention discloses a dianhydride compound containing a thiophene structure and a preparation method thereof. The structure of the compound is shown in the description; the preparation method comprises the following steps: dissolving dibenzothienyl-1,1',2,2'-tetracarboxylic acid into organic solvents including acetic acid, acetic anhydride and the like; heating to be refluxed under the catalysis of a silicon-based solid dehydration agent SH-01 and under an oxygen-free environment, and carrying out heat insulation for 5 to 10h to obtain a corresponding thiophene-containing dianhydride typecompound dibenzothienyl-1,1',2,2'-dianhydride; after reaction is finished, filtering and recrystallizing, wherein the content of the purified omega(II) is greater than 99 percent and the reaction yield is greater than 70 percent. The compound can be used for synthesizing a polyimide material.
