The embodiment of the invention provides a small cell caching method and device based on content popularity prediction. The method comprises the steps of obtaining first request times of all content in a small cell within the preset number of historical periods, wherein the historical periods are nearest to a future period; for the first request times corresponding to each piece of content, predicting second request times of each piece of content within the future period of the small cell through adoption of an autoregressive integrated moving average model, thereby obtaining predicted requesttimes corresponding to each piece of content; obtaining the most recent request time intervals corresponding to all content in the small cell; for the predicted request times corresponding to each piece of content and the most recent request time interval corresponding to each piece of content, computing a popularity predicted value corresponding to each piece of content in the small cell throughutilization of a content popularity computing formula; and caching the content in the small cell based on the popularity predicted value corresponding to each piece of content. Through application ofthe embodiment of the invention, a cache hit rate of cache content of the small cell and a utilization rate of cache space are improved.
