The invention discloses an active gap adjusting hanging device of an eddy current brake magnet and a control method of the device. The hanging device comprises a gap adjuster and a gap adjustment controller; the gap adjuster comprises an electromagnet, an iron block arranged far from the bottom end of the electromagnet and a displacement measuring device; the electromagnet is wound by a coil; andthe displacement measuring device, the gap adjustment controller and the coil are connected sequentially. The device and control method thereof have the advantages that 1) an air gap between the eddycurrent brake magnet and an induction rail at the high speed is reduced, and a braking capability of a high-speed segment is improved; 2) an electromagnetic force is added to a hanging position at thelow speed, an attraction force generated by the eddy current brake magnet is balanced to certain extent, time before that the magnet makes contact with the induction rail is as long as possible, wearand temperature rise are reduced; and the eddy current brake magnet is more available and more reliable; and 3) wear consumption of a wearing plate is reduced, and the maintenance cost is reduced.
