The communication converter comprises a pass-through unit, a conversion unit and a router unit; the pass-through unit is connected with the conversion unit, and further used for being connected with a router of an electric transformer district concentrator of the resident electric energy centralized meter reading system; the conversion unit is connected with the router unit; the route unit is further used for being connected with nodes of the resident electric energy centralized meter reading system. The communication converter is not designed for specific manufacturers, and is easy to achieve and suitable for all conditions under which node networking needs to be compatible with; if there are more than two schemes on the site, the number of converters can also be increased according to the condition, and thus the problem is solved that spare meters and electricity metersin an electric transformer district are incompatible with each other in communication on the condition that the collecting scheme of the original electric transformer district is unchanged; there is no need to reserve many communication modules anymore, the communication converter is particularly suitable for modification of former electric transformer districts, so that in one electric transformer district, different meter reading modes run simultaneously without mutual interference, and the instability problem of meter reading through a carrier wave or micropower wireless technology is solved; moreover, on-site construction installation is convenient, and the operation is simple.
