The invention belongs to the field of chemical technology and particularly relates to an attapulgite carried manganese-based compound desulfurizer and a preparation method thereof. The attapulgite carried manganese-based compound desulfurizer is prepared from raw materials including, by weight percentage, 10%-65% of manganese nitrate, 15%-45% of attapulgite, 0%-20% of metal oxides, 2%-20% of alumina gel and silica gel, and 10%-20% of auxiliaries, wherein the metal oxides are composed of one or more of activated ferric oxide, activated silver oxide and activated titanium oxide; the auxiliariesare composed of, by weight percentage, 90.7%-94.5% of mineral additives and 5.5%-9.3% of tributyl citrate; the mineral additives are composed one or more of cement, bentonite, sheep-liver-colored clay, aluminum oxide, silicon oxide and diatomite. The attapulgite carried manganese-based compound desulfurizer is controllable in size of active components, high in selectivity, large in sulfur capacity, renewable and applicable to deep desulfurization, thereby having a broad marketing prospect and worthwhile widely popularizing and applying.
