The invention discloses a detection system for the liquid crystal performance of an outdoor electric energy metering device, and a detection method of the detection system. The detection system comprises a remote control system and a test system; the remote control system is connected with the test system through a wireless signal; the test system comprises a constant-temperature system; a metering device is arranged in the constant-temperature system; a camera device is further arranged in the constant-temperature system; and the metering device is connected with a direct-current power supply. The outdoor electric energy metering device has the advantages that the liquid crystal performance of the outdoor electric energy metering device is remotely monitored, and the detection efficiencyand accuracy are improved.
