The invention relates to a monitoring method and system for hybrid direct current circuit breaker arresters. The monitoring method comprises the steps that line side current, main branch current and transfer branch current of N groups of the hybrid direct current circuit breakers are measured; according to the line side current, the main branch current and the transfer branch current of each group, the energy consumption branch current of the hybrid direct current circuit breakers are calculated; the calculated energy consumption branch current of all groups are compared with the arrester leakage threshold current limit value; and if the energy consumption branch current of the hybrid direct current circuit breakers are greater than the arrester leakage threshold current upper limit valueor the number of groups of which the energy consumption branch current lower than the arrester leakage threshold current lower limit value is not less than a first set value, the first set value is not less than N/2, and then it is determined that the arresters are abnormal. The monitoring method and system for the hybrid value circuit breaker arresters reduce the cost, simplify the system designand have high reliability, and avoid the influence of an additionally-installed arrester online monitoring device on the dynamic performance of the arresters.
