A solenoid drive (6) of a starter (1) may include the following parts: a ferromagnetic housing (19) having a coil receiving chamber (64) axially limited by a first face side wall (65) and an oppositesecond face side wall (66); a cylindrical coil arrangement (22) having at least one electric coil (40, 41), wherein the coil arrangement being arranged in the coil receiving chamber (64) and coaxiallysurrounding a cylindrical coil interior space (25); a ferromagnetic plunger stop (20) having a central region (43) projecting axially in the coil interior space (25); a ferromagnetic plunger (21) arranged at the housing (19) axially opposing the plunger stop (20), and the plunger (21) may project axially into the coil interior space (25) and may be adjustable axially bi-directionally relative tothe housing (19) between an active position (AS) and a distal position (PS), which are proximal and distal, respectively, with respect to the central region (43); and a ferromagnetic bypass device (45) arranged coaxially with respect to the coil arrangement (22) and radially within at least one coil (40, 41). The bypass device (45) may be spaced apart axially from the face side walls (65, 66) so as to generate simplified production power.
