The purpose of the present invention is to provide an armature for a rotary electric machine which exhibits magnetic characteristics equivalent to those of an armature core in which shoes are made ofmagnetic steel plates and are integrally formed with teeth, and is equipped with magnetic wedges which allow a desired shoe shape to be simulated easily and accurately. The armature for a rotary electric machine according to the present invention is equipped with: an armature core in which teeth are circumferentially arranged while radially projecting inward from an inner peripheral surface of anannular core back, and slots are formed between adjoining teeth; armature coils which are installed on the armature core; and magnetic wedges which are installed between inner peripheral ends of the adjoining teeth, thereby closing opening parts of the slots. The magnetic wedges are each equipped with: one pair of magnetic body parts which are circumferentially arranged apart from each other between the inner peripheral ends of the adjoining teeth; and a non-magnetic part for connecting the one pair of magnetic body parts together, wherein the magnetic body part is configured by laminating rectangular flat plate-like magnetic steel plates together in the thickness direction thereof.
