This magnetization reversal element is provided with: a ferromagnetic metal layer; and a spin orbit torque wire which extends in a first direction intersecting a stacking direction of the ferromagnetic metal layer and on one surface of which the ferromagnetic metal layer is positioned. The direction of spin injected from the spin orbit torque wire into the ferromagnetic metal layer intersects the direction of magnetization of the ferromagnetic metal layer, and the ferromagnetic metal layer has a dumping constant greater than 0.01.
