The invention discloses a mortar composition, and a preparation method thereof. The mortar composition comprises, by weight, 30 to 40 parts of cement, 45 to 55 parts of sand, 0.08 to 0.1 part of a mixed motor material of methoxy polyethylene glycol methyl acrylate copolymer (polycarboxylic acid powdery water reducer 1), 15 to 20 parts of water, 0.08 to 0.9 part of a water-retaining agent, 1 to 1.5parts of a carbon-based powder, 0.15 to 0.25 part of an antifoaming agent, and 0.3 to 0.9 part of gypsum. The mortar composition possesses enough high binding strength, is capable of reaching earthquake safety standards, is high in strain degree, compressive strength, bending strength, and tracing performance; expansion or shrinkage is not easily caused; deterioration with time passing is not easily caused; and the mortar composition is not easily influenced by cracks.
