The invention belongs to the field of tobacco processing and particularly relates to a cut stem preparation method. The method includes steps: (1) subjecting raw material tobacco stems to washing andstorage to obtain tobacco stems; (2) steaming the tobacco stems obtained in the step (1) to obtain tobacco stems; (3) washing the tobacco stems to obtain tobacco stems; (4) subjecting the tobacco stems obtained in the step (3) to defibering to obtain slurry containing cut stems; (5) removing moisture in the slurry obtained in the step (4) to obtain cut stems. The invention further relates to a cutstem and application thereof. The cut stems prepared according to the method have advantages of high defibering rate, low tobacco damage ratio, qualified size, high uniformity, high sensory quality,low caking rate and less prone to blockage.
