The invention relates to the technical field of magnesium base alloys and manufacturing thereof, in particular to a high-plasticity magnesium alloy and a preparation method thereof. The magnesium alloy comprises the following components in percentage by mass: 2.2-2.5% of Nb, 1.5-1.8% of Mn, 0.5-0.8% of Zn, 0.5-0.9% of Sb, 0.3-0.5% of Ca, 0.6-0.8% of Sn, and the balance of Mg and inevitable impurities. Relatively cheaper metal elements of Sn, Ca, Mn, Zn, Sb and Nb are used for alloying; and a multi-component alloying method is used, so that the plasticity of the alloy is improved when the strength of the alloy is maintained. Compared with a traditional heat-resistance magnesium alloy, the alloy is excellent in strength and plasticity, lower in production cost, high in efficiency and suitable for large-scale production.
