The invention provides a method for operating a drivetrain system of a motor vehicle, wherein the drivetrain system comprises the components of a driver set; a transmission which has shape-locking switching elements (A,F) and preferably has friction-locking switching elements (B,C,D,E); and a driven device, wherein in a gear in locking with each hanging force of the transmission, the first numberof switching elements of the transmission are closed and furthermore a second number of switching elements of the transmission are open. In a state without force locking of the transmission, in the gear in lockign with the force, at least one switching element of the transmission is open. In the state without force locking, and when at least one shape-locking switching element is closed, the shape-locking switching element is opened in a manner which comprises the steps of firstly increasing a system pressure which is applied to a switching element, afterwards increasing a torque which is supplied by the driving set and then reducing the torque on the condition of system pressure increase, and reducing the system pressure again.
