The invention discloses a method for preparing pervious material from red mud, and relates to the technical field of comprehensive utilization of solid wastes. The method comprises the following preparation steps: mixing the following components in percentages by mass: 60-85% of the red mud, 5-15% of flyash and 10-30% of clay; after stirring, carrying out ageing and granulating to obtain particleswith the grain size being 1-10 mmmm; then sintering into aggregates and cooling the aggregates; sieving the cooled aggregates; separately taking and mixing the following aggregates in percentages bymass: 15-25% of aggregates with the sizes lower than 2 mm, 50-60% of aggregates with the sizes lower than 2-6 mm and 15-25% of aggregates with the sizes lower than 6-10 mm; mixing the mixed aggregateswith an inorganic gelatinizing agent and water according to a certain ratio; after stirring, placing the mixture into a mold, pressing, and carrying out curing and solidification to obtain the pervious material. Compared with the prior art, the pervious material is simple in production process, is environmentally friendly, and does not cause secondary pollution; and the produced pervious materialis high in strength and permeable rate.
