The invention discloses a monitoring device and method for temperature and partial discharge of a ring main unit. The monitoring device comprises a signal processing and control unit and a temperaturemonitoring unit; a central processing unit is connected with a bus control unit, a signal transmitting unit and a signal receiving unit, the bus control unit is connected to the signal transmitting unit and the signal receiving unit, a first UHF antenna is connected to the signal transmitting unit and the signal receiving unit; a second UHF antenna is connected to a UHF-to-DC converter unit, a UHF instruction extraction unit, and a UHF data modulation unit; the UHF-to-DC converter unit is connected with a UHF tag chip and a temperature sensor; the UHF tag chip is connected to the UHF instruction extraction unit, and the UHF data modulation unit and a temperature sensor. The monitoring device can simultaneously carry out two functions of temperature monitoring and partial discharge warningof the ring main unit, can save the space of sensors in the ring main unit, and is suitable for the intensive and miniaturized ring main unit.
