The present invention provides a method and a system for synchronization of illumination timing in a multi-sensor imager. The method comprises the following steps of: providing the illumination pulseto each sensor in N sensors by an illumination control module; setting each one of the N sensors to have the same pulse period and effective pulse width; setting the effective pulse width of each oneof the N illumination pulses to have the maximum exposure time of each one of the N sensors; ensuring that a time interval between the time of capturing frames and the time of capturing following images is the same for each sensor during the initialization of image capture; monitoring the frame synchronizing signal of each sensor and the corresponding illumination pulse; obtaining offset period between the following frame synchronizing signals from the monitoring step; regulating the interval between the frame captures; and aligning negative edges of the frame synchronizing signals and the corresponding illumination pulses.
