The invention relates to a tool for roughening a borehole surface which has a coupling portion (12) for clamping the tool (10) in a drill device and has a tool head (14) for processing the borehole surface, cutting means (18) which are circumferentially arranged on the tool head (14) being provided. A borehole surface can be roughened in a simple manner as a result of the fact that the tool head (14) has at least one laterally continuous slot (20) which extends from an end face (22) of the tool head (14) axially along a tool longitudinal axis (A), the influence of the user being minimized andat the same time the ease of use being increased.
