An ejection tray (10) is provided for use in combination with a medication container (12) including a medication-containing cell (14). The tray includes a frame (26) configured to receive at least a portion of the medication container (12). An actuator (18) is movably associated with the frame to eject the medication from the cell (14). A switch (40) is associated with the frame and configured tochange from a first state to a second state upon the actuator (18) being moved to eject the medication from the cell (14). A host processor (36) is associated with the frame (26) and is electrically coupled or selectively coupled to the switch (40). The host processor (36) is programmed to detect a change in the state of the switch (40).
