A temperature responsive polymer having an arbitrary LCST over a wide temperature range, from a low temperature region such as body temperature or room temperature, to a high temperature region of 80DEG C or higher, and a method for easily obtaining said polymer are provided. This alkenyl ether-vinyl ester copolymer contains repeating units derived from a hydroxy group-containing alkenyl ether and represented by expression (1), and repeating units derived from vinyl ester and represented by expression (2), and exhibits temperature responsiveness in which hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity changeswith a prescribed temperature as the critical point. In this alkenyl ether-vinyl ester copolymer, the lower critical solution temperature in water is 1-99 DEG C. In the expressions, R1, R2 and R3 eachindependently represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms, R4 a branched or straight alkylene group of 2-4 carbon atoms, and R5 an acyl group of 1-20 carbon atoms, and p represents an integer from 1 to 3.
