The invention discloses a method for reducing the power consumption of an Internet of Things terminal, and relates to the field of mobile communication. The method comprises the steps that the terminal determines that the terminal is in a static state; and the terminal reports the static state of the terminal to a base station, so that the base station prolongs the service cell measurement cycle of the static terminal. Accordingly, the power consumption of the Internet of Things terminal is reduced.
