The invention discloses a circular deflection pointer type meter reading correction method comprising the steps that ellipse fitting is performed according to the calibration result so that a dial area is acquired, the dial area image is extracted from a target image and the fitting center of circle is calculated according to the dial area image; line detection is performed on the dial area imageand the angle of the detected vertex position of a pointer line segment and the pointer line segment is determined; the actual vertex position of the pointer is determined according to the position ofthe dial center of the circle, the position of the fitting center of circle and the vertex position of the pointer line segment, the correction angle is calculated according to the triangle formed bythe position of the dial center of the circle, the vertex position of the pointer line segment and the actual vertex position of the pointer, and the sum of the angle of the pointer line segment andthe correction angle acts as the corrected pointer angle; and the corresponding meter reading of the corrected pointer angle is determined according to the corresponding relation between the preset pointer angle and the meter reading. The method is used for the inspection robot to perform outdoor deflection pointer type meter reading correction so that the correct rate of the pointer meter readingcan be enhanced.
