The invention provides a preparation method for a zinc-zirconium intermediate alloy and the zinc-zirconium intermediate alloy. The preparation method includes the following steps that (1) dosing is carried out, wherein according to the weight ratio, zirconium is 1.6%-2%, and the balance is zinc; (2) smelting is carried out, wherein a zinc pig is firstly put into a smelting furnace, and zirconium powder is added when the temperature is controlled to range from 550 DEG C to 600 DEG C; and (3) casting is carried out, wherein the casting temperature is controlled to range from 500 DEG C to 550 DEGC. The zinc-zirconium intermediate alloy serves as a raw material to be added into zinc alloy preparation, the smelting temperature can be decreased, the metal material smelting time is shortened, and the smelting temperature is reduced.
