The invention discloses an image enhancement method and a computer readable storage medium, aiming at improving the image quality. The image enhancement method includes the steps of converting an image to be processed from an RGB color space into an HIS color space; subjecting a luminance component of the image to be processed to histogram distribution statistics and histogram equalization so as to obtain a pixel value of the image to be processed; correcting histogram distribution of the luminance component of the image to be processed by histogram distribution of a luminance component of a guide image, and acquiring the luminance component of the image to be processed, wherein the guide image is part of or all of an image related to the image to be processed and higher than that in quality or part of the image to be processed; converting the luminance component of the corrected image from the HIS color space into the RGB color space. The image enhancement method has the advantages that the high-quality clear image with similar scenes is used for guiding enhancement of the poor-quality image, so that a contrast ratio of the image can be increased effectively and image details areenhanced.
