The invention discloses preparation of a magnetic material and applications of the material for removing radionuclides and the like from water, and belongs to the technical fields of environment treatment and environment protection. A Fe3O4-loaded calcium-based three-dimensional skeleton magnetic material is prepared and is used for adsorption removal of toxic ions such as radionuclides and heavy metals in waste water. An aqueous solution of a water-soluble calcium salt and an organic solution of an organic skeleton ligand are added into an ethanol solution of a magnetic base material that is Fe3O4, rotary evaporation is performed under a heating condition for a certain period of time, and then separation and drying steps are performed. The prepared novel magnetic three-dimensional skeleton material has a good application prospect in disposal of radionuclides in waste water and disposal of heavy metal ions in industrial waste water in China.
