The invention provides a remote mirror image implementation method and apparatus. MPLS package is performed on a mirror image message on a source device, so that the mirror image message can arrive at a monitoring device connected with another edge device from one edge device by passing through a PTN network so as to achieve remote mirror images in the PTN network. By adoption of the remote mirror image implementation method and apparatus, the remote mirror images of the monitored device is located in the monitoring device connected with the other edge device in the PTN network, thereby improving the flexibility of network monitoring and fault analysis of the remote CPE device, generating no operation or maintenance on the dispersion site of the remote CPE device and greatly reducing the time cost and the labor cost of network management and maintenance.
