Provided is a technology of improving liquid detection accuracy in a tank unit. A printer 10 is provided with a tank unit 40A. The tank unit 40A is provided with a plurality of ink tanks 43A, and a plurality of ink cylinder sections 46A. The ink cylinder sections 46A are connected to the ink tanks 43A via tubes 47 such that inks stored in the corresponding ink tanks 43A can flow into the ink cylinder sections. Each of the ink cylinder sections 46A is provided with a pair of terminal pins 96a, 96b to be used for ink detection. The horizontal cross-sectional area of the ink cylinder section 46A at a height position where the pair of terminal pins 96a, 96b are provided is smaller than the horizontal cross-sectional area of the ink tank 43A at the corresponding height position.
