The invention relates to the field of satellite communication, and particularly relates to a multi-carrier modulation and demodulation method in a VDES system. A non-orthogonal sub-carrier is divided into a cosine frequency component and a sine frequency component, and the real part and the imaginary part of sub-carrier signals are correspondingly modulated. A non-orthogonal sub-carrier matrix is transformed into a standard orthogonal basis. Before the non-orthogonal sub-carrier matrix is combined, the sub-carrier signals are modulated and demodulated together. A NOMM algorithm is reasonably applied to the VDES multi-carrier system. The interference between sub-carriers, which is caused by the non-orthogonal sub-carrier, is effectively suppressed. The target bit error rate condition of data transmission in the VDES system is satisfied to realize high-speed transmission.
