The invention provides an evaluation method of a hot spot temperature rise position of an ultra high voltage dry-type smoothing reactor. The method comprises the following steps: calculating the total loss of each layer of envelopes of the smoothing reactor in the running process; calculating the unit heat dissipation area loss of each layer of the envelopes according to the total loss; and comparing the loss value of each envelope in the unit heat dissipation area loss, and determining the number of layers of the envelopes where the hot spot temperature rises in the smoothing reactor. Compared with the prior art, the evaluation method of the hot spot temperature rise position of the ultra high voltage dry-type smoothing reactor provided by the invention can quickly evaluate the number of layers of the envelopes where the hot spot temperature rises in the dry-type smoothing reactor.
