The preparation method comprises the following steps: mixing and stirring the raw materials in respective corresponding proportion uniformly, pouring into a specific mold, loading end covers at two ends of the mold, using a pressure machine to compact the mixed material, then putting into a drying box for sintering, taking out the mold for cooling after sintering, and preparing a finished product after demolding. The length of a selenium-encirhced carbon rod is customized according to the length of the mold, and secondary pollution caused by the fact that the selenium-encirhced carbon rod is cut can be avoided. The selenium-enriched carbon rod filter element can be used for water filtering, selenium element in the selenium mineral powder can be preferably released, the manufacturing raw materials are safe and non-toxic, and the filter element has the advantages of high purification efficiency, high content of released selenium element, low pressure loss, abrasion resistance and long service life.
