The invention discloses a vegetation recovery method for a pyrite waste land. The vegetation recovery method for the pyrite waste land comprises the following steps: S1, preparing a pit planting substrate from the following components in parts by weight: 60-70 parts of soil with the water content lower than 30%, 15-25 parts of animal dung, 10-20 parts of charcoal, 3-5 parts of steel slag and 0.5-1.5 parts of a commercial composite fertilizer; S2, digging a plurality of planting pits according to the trend of the contour line, and applying the pit planting substrate in the planting pits; S3, planting robinia pseudoacacia or kudzu vine in the pits; and S4, covering the kudzu vine by using soil or the pit planting substrate 4-6 months after planting is finished. When a pyrite tailings pond is repaired by plants, a specific substrate is manufactured according to conditions of ore tailings compositions, nutrient content, the power of hydrogen and the like. The specific substrate is prepared, plants such as leguminous kudzu vine and robinia pseudoacacia are selected as main species, a specific pit planting method is combined to assorted treatment such as fertilization, settlement of the plants on the ore tailings and increasing of the biomass are promoted, and therefore, vegetation recovery and bioremediation on a pyrite tailings polluted land are implemented rapidly and effectively.
