The invention relates to the technical field of synthesis of dihydronaphthalene structure unit intermediates and in particular relates to a synthetic method of 2-phenyl-1,2-dihydronaphthalene-1-ol racemization compound and derivatives thereof as well as novel 2-phenyl-1,2-dihydronaphthalene-1-ol racemization compounds and derivatives thereof synthesized by the method. The synthetic method disclosed by the invention comprises the following steps: taking a transition metal compound formed by Pt(COD)Cl2 and an organic ligand as a catalyst, catalyzing oxabenzonorbornadiene to react with sodium arylsulfinate, and efficiently synthesizing the 2-phenyl-1,2-dihydronaphthalene-1-ol racemization compound and derivatives thereof. The reaction conditions are mild, and the reaction can be completed at the temperature of 50-80 DEG C. When the transition metal compound catalyst is formed by a proper amount of PPh3 serving as the organic ligand and Pt(COD)Cl2, an additive AgSbF6 is used and CH3OH serves as a solvent, the reaction time is short, and the yield of the synthesized 2-phenyl-1,2-dihydronaphthalene-1-ol racemization compound can reach 92%.
