A method and system for discriminating heating defects through infrared temperature measurement are disclosed. The method is characterized by comprising the steps of 1) selecting transformer primary equipment and corresponding equipment positions , 2) inputting the temperature measurement value Ta, Tb and Tc of on-site temperature measurement for the equipment positions, the ambient temperature T0 and the normal equipment temperature T1, 3) displaying the alarm of higher defect property, after using the combination of the surface temperature determination method and the relative temperature difference determination method. According to the method and system, an operation worker can discriminate heating defects after abnormity is detected through on-site temperature measurement, thereby improving heating defect discrimination timeliness. The method and system are applicable to mobile terminals using Android and apple systems, and the on-site use rate is increased.
