The invention provides a laterite-nickel-ore reduction and cooling method. The laterite-nickel-ore reduction and cooling method comprises the following steps that reduced products of laterite nickel ore pass through a vertical cooling furnace and conduct heat exchanging with nitrogen, and the reduced products are cooled; and the reduced products after being cooled are crushed, ore-grinded and magnetic-separated, and high-nickel concentrate is obtained. According to the laterite-nickel-ore reduction and cooling method, when reduction ore of the laterite nickel ore is taken out from a kiln, waste heat can be sufficiently utilized and recycled, water resources are saved, and the environment is protected; and iron grains are promoted to grow up in the cooling process, the ore-grinding cost is reduced, and the nickel recovery rate is improved.
