The invention discloses a distortion correction method and system of wheel tread images of a train, and relates to the technical field of image processing methods. The method comprises steps of firstly, using an improved color image mark watershed algorithm to segment a side viewing angle tread curved surface image; then, according to different features of transverse and longitudinal distortion of the tread curved surface image, sequentially carry out plane transverse and vertical coordinate geometrical correction and finishing secondary segmentation and viewing angle shifting of a tread region; and finally, obtaining a tread positive viewing angle correction image. According to the invention, side viewing angle tread images can be precisely segmented and corrected, and foundation is laid for precise measurement of tread fault regions.
