The embodiment of the invention discloses a determination method and a determination device for an execution action of a hydraulic support. The method comprises the following steps: judging types of coal mining technologies according to the change of the moving direction of a coal mining machine and position and height changes of left and right rollers of the coal mining machine, wherein the types of the coal mining technologies at least comprise one of a middle normal coal cutting technology, a bottom coal cutting technology, a float coal clearing technology, a beveling feed technology and a triangle coal cutting technology; determining the execution action of the hydraulic support according to the types of the coal mining technologies. According to the embodiment of the invention, efficiency and accuracy of determining the types of the coal mining technologies as well as accuracy and real-time property of a machine following action of the hydraulic support are improved.
