The invention provides a hot melt glue gun which comprises a gun body 1 and a trigger switch 2. The hot melt glue gun is characterized in that the trigger switch 2 is provided with a protection push rod 3, a protection cover 4 is arranged below a melt glue outlet end of the gun body 1, the end of the protection push rod 3 is connected with the bottom end of the protection cover 4, a magnet patch 5 is arranged inside the upper end of the protection cover 4, and a magnet 6 attractive to the magnet patch 5 is arranged above the gun body 1 correspondingly. The hot melt glue gun has the beneficial effect of being capable of preventing glue drops from being tossed out to scald a user.
