Provided are a window regulator manufacturing method and a tension applying method for a drive wire which enable, in a series of manufacturing steps, tension to be placed on (tension to be applied to) a drive wire with excellent efficiency. The window regulator manufacturing method includes the following: a step of attaching the second end of a drive wire to a drive drum; a step of placing the first end of the drive wire on a temporary placement part provided to the drum housing; and a step in which, in a state where the drive wire is placed on the temporary placement part, the first end side of the drive wire is pulled by reeling the second end side of the drive wire using the drive drum, the state in which the first end part of the drive wire is placed on the temporary placement part is released, and the first end of the drive wire is moved to a locking part provided on the drive drum, and as a result of the foregoing, tension is applied to the drive wire.
