The invention discloses a technical method for refining salicylonitrile. The technical method specifically comprises the following steps: putting salicylonitrile to be refined into a refining kettle; adding metered xylene, water and sodium chloride, heating to 90-95 DEG C, stirring for a half hour, and standing for layering; separating out lower-layer water; transferring an oil layer into a crystalizing kettle; adding metered xylene into the water layer and extracting; transferring extract liquor into the crystalizing kettle. According to the invention, after salicylonitrile is refined, extracted and crystalized, impurities in unqualified salicylonitrile can be effectively removed and the yield and quality of refined salicylonitrile are higher than those of re-crystalized salicylonitrile. According to the invention, the technical method design for refining salicylonitrile is optimized and the requirement for the technical method design for refining salicylonitrile is met.
