The invention provides a method for evaluating influence range of series compensation line fault on adjacent multistage line distance I section protection. The method is characterized by selecting series compensation line characteristic fault points; when a series compensation capacitor of a series compensation device has maximum voltage drop, analyzing electric characteristics of a line and an adjacent line bus side protection installation place, and judging the influence range of series compensation line fault on adjacent line distance I section protection according to the electric characteristics; analyzing the influence range of series compensation line adjacent I stage, multistage line head bus side and same-voltage-level outlet protection installation place on the distance I section protection through an off-line auxiliary computation method; and finally, determining whether an adjacent line protection function is put in service or not during operation to further guide selection in engineering design.
