The invention provides a method for directional transduction of a photo-thermo sensitive genic male sterile rice line into a broad-maintenance cytoplasmic male sterile line. The method comprises the following steps of by using the photo-thermo sensitive genie male sterile rice line as a back-crossing mother sample and using cultivated rice as a father sample, performing hybridization, back-crossing and self-crossing, and breeding, so as to obtain a homologous fertile line of the photo-thermo sensitive genic male sterile rice line; by using the homologous fertile line of the photo-thermo sensitive genie male sterile rice line as the back-crossing mother sample and using the rice broad-maintenance cytoplasmic male sterile line as a mother sample, performing hybridization and back-crossing, and breeding, so as to obtain a new rice variety with change of genetic nature, thereby cultivating the new broad-maintenance cytoplasmic male sterile line. The method has the advantages that the excellent genetic background, comprehensive characters and breeding potential of the original photo-thermo sensitive genic male sterile line are furthest maintained, the sterility degree of pollen is high, the sterility is stable, the interference by natural light radiation duration and temperature change is avoided, and the high purity of seeds of hybridized rice is still guaranteed under the condition of complicated and varied weather conditions.
