The invention discloses a three-dimensional face detection method and apparatus. The method comprises the following steps of: acquiring images of the same monitoring area from different visual angles to obtain an n-way video image and copying the n-way video image; subjecting one of the n-way video images to face feature detection; subjecting the other of the n-way video images to splicing treatment to obtain a three-dimensional image; cutting the three-dimensional image to obtain a plurality of planar graphs; subjecting the planar graphs to face feature detection separately and merging all detection results; merging first face area data with second face area data; and outputting a face detection result and face metadata. The three-dimensional face detection method and apparatus can obtain good face image and can improve the accuracy and the reliability of the face detection.
