The present invention relates to a method for adjusting the internal exhaust gas recirculation rate in an internal combustion engine (100) by means of an intake pipe injection and direct injection and a variable valve drive device, wherein in consideration of allocating the fuel metering to the intake pipe (105) and the exhaust valve (109) of the combustion chamber (103) of the internal combustion engine in the case of injection and direct injection, the internal exhaust gas recirculation rate is adjusted to a rated value.
