The invention provides a positioning method and system for a fault section of a power distribution network based on multi-source information fusion, aiming at avoiding the limitation of utilizing a single information source. The fault section is obtained by fusing information of a power distribution automation terminal and a power utilization information acquisition system through utilizing a D-S evidence theory, and the accuracy of positioning the fault section of the power distribution network is improved. The method comprises the following steps: acquiring fault information detected by the power distribution automation terminal and fault information detected by the power utilization information acquisition system to obtain a first evidence body and a second evidence body; judging whether a conflict exists between the first evidence body and the second evidence body or not; if not, fusing the first evidence body and the second evidence body by utilizing the D-S evidence theory, so as to form fault assumption credibility of the power distribution network; if so, modifying the first evidence body and the second evidence body based on the credibility and fusing the modified evidence bodies to form the fault assumption credibility of the power distribution network, wherein a fault assumption corresponding to a maximum value of the fault assumption credibility is the fault section of the power distribution network.
