The invention provides a water-based red dye. The water-based red dye comprises multiple compounds represented by a chemical structural formula (formula I). The water-based red dye is high in stability and good in water resistance and light resistance. The invention also provides a preparation method of the water-based red dye. In addition, the invention also provides ink for inkjet imaging, which is prepared by adopting the water-based red dye. By adoption of the ink, an inkjet image can be high in definition, persistence and durability. In the structural formula, Ar is shown in the specification, A is H or SO3M; M is Na<+>, K<+>, Li<+>, NH4<+> or HN(CH3)3<+>; B is -OH or shown in the specification; and C is shown in the specification.
