The invention discloses a method for treating an industrial silicon ingot. The method comprises the following steps: (1) the industrial silicon ingot is roughly crushed to obtain industrial silicon ingot particles; and (2) the industrial silicon ingot particles are finely crushed by a rubbing crusher to obtain an industrial silicon product, wherein the rotating speed in the fine crushing treatment is 5-15 r/min. The method can enable the yield of powder with a diameter of smaller than 3 mm to be not higher than 2.05% when obtaining the industrial silicon product with a diameter of 3-100 mm, so that the innovated upgrading for treatment of the industrial silicon ingot from a traditional labor-intensive manual crushing production mode to a mechanical automatic production mode can be realized.
