The invention discloses a parallel double-rope type damping block having a self-reset function. The block comprises a cover beam, a plate-shaped rubber support seat and a bridge superstructure. The plate-shaped rubber support seat is fixed on the cover beam through a support seat cushion block and is supported under the bridge superstructure. Locks fixed on the cover beam are respectively arranged on two sides of the bridge superstructure. A prestress steel strand and an energy consuming rope are anchored between the blocks on the two sides. Rubber blocks are arranged on inner sides of the blocks and the outer side of the bridge superstructure corresponding to the inner sides of the blocks. According to the invention, when the blocks are deformed, the high-resistance energy-consuming rope dissipates earthquake energy, thereby achieving a buffering protection function for the blocks, so problems of beam falling and earthquake damage in the transverse direction of the bridge of simply supported beam bridges in a high intensity region are solved, and the whole earthquake resisting performance level of this kind of bridge is remarkably increased.
