An apparatus and method for controlling a glow plug of a diesel hybrid vehicle, is provided. The apparatus comprises an engine control unit used for requiring a hybrid control unit to drive a hybrid motor after the mode switching is determined to generate in the diesel hybrid vehicle and when the glow plug used for pre-heating a diesel engine combustion chamber needs to work at the initial stage of the operation mode of the engine; the hybrid control unit for driving the hybrid motor under the request of the engine control unit to assist the diesel hybrid vehicle for the needed operation torque. The apparatus and the method can assist the diesel hybrid vehicle to move to obtain the needed operation torque by the torque auxiliary work of the hybrid motor, thereby being able to use the cheap glow plug to pre-heat the engine combustion chamber of the engine at the initial stage of the operation mode of the engine.
